Brothers Jean and Pierre took over the family domaine in 1989 and have elevated it into a benchmark domaine for the appellation. They have been farming without chemical inputs & organically since 2004. Their grandfather planted many of the vines from massale selection in parcels that have become the most historic and prized sites in the original, southernmost part of the appellation. New vines are still planted by massale selection and the soil is fertilized with its own compost and plowed by horse (Sampson). Bunches are partially de-stemmed, fermented with native yeast in open top wooden tanks and aged in neutral barrel in various sizes for 14-18 months. The wines are transparent & authentic expressions of old-vine syrah grown on these granitic slopes with cool, east facing exposures.
